Not AH-4, but still a viable product - maybe December 23, 2008 M. Mathis (Florida, USA) As mentioned by the other reviewer, this is definitely not the Nikon AH-4 Handstrap. It is in all likelihood a Nikon branded Hakuba, or even the Optera. They share the same baseplate and strap, with slightly different pads. Arrived (From Adorama) in Nikon packaging and embosses with the Nikon logo, this may be a low cost Nikon outsourced product as compared the the AH-4. Adorama's price was a bit higher than current. The current price is close to the Hakuba and 2x the Optera. So how much do you want the Nikon stamp? Anyway it does was it is supposed to do. Strap is a bit short for use on a large pro body or DSLR with grip, but it does just fit - although I worry about it pulling through the buckle with so little "tag' end left. Would be fine on a Dx0 series with no grip. I may experiment with a strap extension or I may just send it back. I like that the baseplate does not offset the tripod mount like so many seem to do. And I like that it can be set so it does not interfere with the battery door on my MD-80 grip. Anyway I don't see paying $70 for the AH-4 plus it is more a wrist strap than hand strap, and seems like it would be more trouble slipping on and off...heck I may just keep it.
Comfort and utility make this strap a constant companion for me November 25, 2008 William T. Bebout (Somerville, MA United States)
Not everyone "rolls" this way, but I never use a neck strap. When using my camera it is either in my hand or on a tripod. (It's in a backpack or shoulder bag otherwise.)The adjustments you can make to the strap are most useful. I have big hands and needed to adjust the strap somewhat loosely in order to hit all the buttons I need to on my D90. It still keeps the camera nicely attached to my hand. I'm happy I made this purchase.
Adorama "Nikon Handstrap" November 9, 2008 Ripped Off 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Do not be deceived like I was by this item. I searched Amazon for the Nikon AH-4 hand strap and this product offered by Adorama appeared for $24.51. This product is NOT the OEM Nikon AH-4 hand strap! This item is cheaply made and I seriously doubt that it is an authentic Nikon product (it is labeled Nikon and shipped in plastic with Nikon labeling!); however, it is NOT the Nikon AH-4. The actual product looks different! The OEM Nikon product is packaged in a plastic box with printed instructions. The actual OEM Nikon my cost more, but it is a superior product. I have purchased other items from this vendor in the past without any problems/issues; however, I really feel ripped off with respect to this purchase! Nikon Adjustable Handstrap for Digital SLRs
nice alternative to tiresome neck straps. October 16, 2008 miele (Washington, DC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
UPDATE: i just put an mb-d80 battery grip on my d80, and this strap is long enough to be adjusted to fit around the camera and the grip. it feels sturdy enough to hold the camera which is significantly heavier with the grip attached, and it is still very comfortable. definitely happy with my purchase. this strap does everything it's supposed to do, it is a great alternative to neck straps that can get tiresome when you carry your camera around all day. i was using the nikon neck strap that came with my d80 until receiving this. the nikon neck strap is not particularly comfortable anyway, but i really just wanted to have something to grip it onto my hand. this hand strap does not feel cheap, it's nice quality (as usual with nikon products). the strap is made of good durable material, and the padding is comfortable. the padding can be moved up or down the strap so you can pretty much adjust it to your hand. the padding is not huge though, so someone with bigger hands might not find it sufficient. i was able to adjust it very well to fit my hand, it's great and i am very happy i bought it. at a glance i'd say the strap might be long enough even to wrap down around the mb-d80 but i'll have to test it out to be sure. worth the money for a comfy hand strap.
It just the best August 28, 2008 Rodrigo Gregorio De Heras (Santiago, Chile) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have a Nikon D300 with the MB-10 and with this grip it can get any better. This is very handy when you have to more with the camara and have to be ready to take that photos, the camara is all ways there. This is very use full, if the camara is too heavy you will never drop it and if you need to rest the hand you can, it will all ways be there if you need the shoot. Very easy to put on the camara and to take off.
