1 out of 5 stars bought it. doesn't work.   November 22, 2008
R. B. Johnson (Chicago, IL)
i bought the reader to work w/ my 8g and 4g micro SD cards so i could backup data to hard drive.

the red indicator light glows on the reader, and an icon for 'removable disk e:' appears in explorer. however when you click on the icon i get the error message: 'please insert a disk drive into drive E:'

in other words, my system recogizes the reader, but not the card plugged into the reader.

regardless, it's of no use to me. and i'm in the market for another card reader. any suggestions of a good one?

2 out of 5 stars Cheap chinese crap   October 22, 2008

I'm now on my 4th one of these only because a friend bought them cheap in bulk and keeps replacing them for free. Basically they work fine for a time but with repeated connecting and disconnecting to USB port they all eventually failed. Maybe about one hundred connections. I guess you get what you pay for. They are not built solid and the PC board inside starts floating around after only a few connections. If you don't mind replacing them frequently then go ahead and buy one. In fact buy a bunch because over time you'll need them.

This item does not work. I have tried one two computers. I'd say spend the extra ten bucks and get a good working reader. I have one that works great. These little key looking ones, I have 2. Neither work. The other one is from I/O gear.

Best of luck finding a good working car reader. Took me 3 tries.

We like to video a lot of travel in the hills. Havin a memory card and a small design to down load our movies is ideal.

PC doesn't recognize the reader. I bought it to read my 8gig card. Everything fits fine but my PC does not recognize it. At my computer I double click on removable disk and get "please insert a disk into drive F", I right click and it says 0 for all capacity.

running: Windows XP media center edition w/ SPII & III

..must there always be a catch when you get stuff free?!?!
