Product Description History of Travel: Wheels Across Africa is a great film now caught on DVD. The continent has changed dramatically in the past seven decades. Civil wars, urbanization and plagues have taken their toll. This film is a chance to see what Africa was like before it was spoiled by the effects of modernization! This is a truly unique chance to visit the beauty that was Africa seventy years ago. On this incredible film you will see some of the first interactions ever between native tribesmen and western technology. You will see beautiful African cities - some new, some ancient. You will thrill to majestic panoramas and be immersed in beautiful geography. Armand Davis leads the motor expedition through Africa, powered by Dodge cars. Created as both an educational and promotional film for the Dodge division of Chrysler, it provides an interesting mix of the people and wildlife of the continent. This DVD will help you understand the people, wildlife and beauty of Africa seven decades ago - shot my master filmmakers Wilding Pictures Productions. As any serious student of travel or film knows, Wilding Picture Productions was one of the great masters of travel films. On this DVD you will see a nearly endless stream of some of their greatest work. The DVD will work on any zone DVD player. The disk comes with a 30 day money back guarantee and ship in traditional Amaray style DVD cases. The footage on the disk has been expertly restored and preserved in the digital format.

An Accidental Masterpiece May 23, 2006 Arthur (America) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What's strange about this film is that it didn't plan on being an important documentary, it was created as a long ad to demonstrate how tough Chryster cars were and that they could survive the african trip. Almost by accident they managed to record the life and times of Africa right before the industrial revolution would change everything, so they created one of the most rare documentaries there is and the last one ever to capture African life quite this way. It goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover.
